This is one of the things you should definitely avoid because these ads can be seen as distractions to your visitors. It will also take far longer for your site to load because a completely new process of opening up a window to display an advertisement will begin and new information that is not relevant to your site will consequently be loaded up.

This will also be the case for when you are working on helping to get people to access parts of your site. You should avoid having information which is vital to your site popping up in a separate browser. Not only will it take longer to load because of the new browser opening but some people sometimes have popup blockers that prevent these from coming up. This can therefore hurt your site's accessibility.
